THE COLOR SCIENCE & PHILOSOPHY
NARRATIVE INTENT
At ARGENT GRADE, we believe color is not an afterthought—it is a critical narrative decision. We operate at the intersection of rigorous color science and raw, low-key cinematic aesthetics. Every project undergoes a deliberate reconstruction of light, designed to preserve the director’s intent while elevating the emotional weight of the story.
We do not apply generic creative LUTs. We build bespoke, scene-referred color pipelines around the needs of each project, treating every camera system as a distinct imaging source. By analyzing the native characteristics and metadata of each camera, we transform technically clean digital captures into organic, textured imagery that holds up across screens and delivery formats.

COLOR-MANAGED PIPELINE (ACES & DWG)
ACES / DWG
To maintain predictable color across cameras, scenes, and delivery formats, our studio works in color-managed environments using ACES and DaVinci Wide Gamut / Intermediate where appropriate.
This framework helps preserve image information from modern LOG, RAW, and HDR sources beyond the limits of Rec.709, while providing controlled transforms for SDR and HDR delivery. Whether footage was captured on an ARRI Alexa 35, RED V-RAPTOR, or Sony S-Log3 camera, we standardize the input data before creative grading begins.
The result is controlled color separation, natural skin tones, smooth highlight roll-off, and a consistent foundation for the project’s visual language. Where appropriate, we develop a controlled film-inspired look as part of the creative grade.

LOSSLESS EDITORIAL INTEGRATION
XML / EDL / AAF
We understand the complexities of modern post-production. Our workflow is designed to integrate cleanly with established editorial pipelines across Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, Avid Media Composer, and DaVinci Resolve.
Depending on the project, we work with XML, EDL, AAF, rendered plates, or Resolve project exchange. You send us the locked edit, relevant project files, and agreed source media. We conform and grade the timeline, then return a graded conform that preserves the editorial structure and metadata required for final online assembly.
The process is designed to minimize conform issues, unnecessary transcoding, and technical friction.

MASTERING & TECHNICAL SPECS
DELIVERY MASTERS
Our grading suite is built around calibrated 10-bit reference monitoring for SDR and HDR finishing, with deliverables specified according to the project’s distribution requirements.
We deliver client-ready masters for web, broadcast, streaming, and cinema workflows where required.
Supported source formats: ARRIRAW, REDCODE RAW, Sony RAW/XAVC, ProRes RAW, and Blackmagic RAW.
Possible deliverables: Apple ProRes masters, DNxHR HQX, Rec.709, Rec.2020/HDR10, high-bitrate web formats, and DCP where required by the project.

WE DON'T BELIEVE IN GUESSWORK. BEFORE WE LOCK IN A PROJECT, WE VERIFY THE TECHNICAL ROUNDTRIP.
If you are currently in pre-production or post-production, you can submit a select 10-second RAW/LOG sequence from your timeline. We will run a custom ACES/DWG color-space transform and return a look-assessment master within 24 hours.
